Our Story

Welcome to Flyboy Yong Tau Foo

Hi there, I’m Keith, the proud founder of FlyBoy Yong Tau Foo!

So leaving the skies of the RSAF to the warmth of the kitchen was really a big change, but one I embraced with open arms.

After retiring, I made a promise to myself: to bring delicious handmade cuisine to everyone.

From that moment, FlyBoy Yong Tao Foo became my passion project — a place where my wife and I, along with my team, pour our hearts into every dish. Each recipe is a story of the joy of sharing good food.

Awesome dining experience here. Have always been craving for YTF and Flyboy never disappoints. The ingredients were fresh, filling was delicious and cooked to how I liked it. Kids loved the crispy bean curd skin and the bee hoon!

Not to mention, their 算盘子 is only avail on weekends and IT'S A MUST TRY! Even my mum approves of it when I dabao home! 😘
Top it off with a mango sago and the deal is sealed! 😋 Picture speaks a thousand words they say, see the picture of the completed meal to judge it yourself! 😂

Rare find in West Coast Clementi area. They offer Yong Tau Fu Malaysia style!

Ordered Set A and Set B plus a bowl of rice and a plate of fried bee hoon. I kept Set A as normal fillings whilst Set B I ordered with salted fish fillings. Set B has two extra pieces of Yong Tai Fu, a crab stick and a whole green chilli with filling.
Both came with sauce which went well with the rice and bee hoon. The chilli sauce provided is packs quite a punch and the green chilli had seeds on so there’s a lot of heat there. Overall it was delicious, especially the ones with salted fish in the meat fillings.

They ran out of abacus seeds so I have to come back another day and do an update.

Update: So I finally got to taste their Abacus Seeds. Bought a small portion $9.00 for take away (cause the place was packed as usual). I have never seen abacus seeds or Yam cakes so loaded with ingredients. Lots of dried prawns and large ones too. Sliced mushrooms and coriander to garnish. The seeds were chewy and very tasty indeed. One of the best abacus seeds I have ever had. Period!

It was lunchtime, and I found myself at a quiet, out-of-the-way shopping center. Among the unremarkable stores, one caught my eye—it was bustling with people. A quick Google search revealed an impeccable 5.0-star rating. My first thought was, "sure boh?"

As I waited for my food, I noticed the empty plates on the surrounding tables, which dispelled my initial doubts.
I ordered a set of Yong Tau Fu with noodle soup and a side of ngoh hiang. The YTF was presented neatly atop a savory homemade sauce made of fermented soybeans and garlic. The pork filling was plump and generous, each bite bursting with flavor. The fresh chili sauce, enhanced with coriander roots, added a delightful complexity.

I stayed a while longer and had the chance to speak with the owner, Keith. Keith, a retired Apache pilot, had recently transitioned from firing Hellfire missiles to crafting delicious YTF. He shared that the recipe was his grandmother's, a Hakka tradition that was always a hit at family gatherings. Inspired by this, he decided to introduce this homely, traditional taste to the Singaporean food scene.

In today's challenging F&B climate, Keith's decision to dive in without prior F&B experience is truly courageous. "Mai Tu Liao!"—don't wait any longer! This YTF is genuinely delicious. Let's support passionate Singaporeans like Keith who are dedicated to enriching our food culture. Read More...

We opted for YTF with salted fish. Surprised that the food is super tasty!!!! Never knew YTF goes so well with bee Hoon. Would definitely recommend this!! Abacus seed and mango pomelo is only available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so did not get to try it. Will be back for those!!!!

Nice casual setting with fast service!

Food is really fresh and serving is value for money. The chilli gives u real kick!

I tried the YTF version with the salted fish. Gives u the flavour and not overpowering. The fried ngoh hiang is crispy and flavourful. Addictive texture and runs out fast.

This new Hakka Yong Tau Foo shop at NeWest Mall offers a unique twist on the classic dish.

Unlike the usual fish paste fillings, their Yong Tau Foo boasts a variety of fillings that include meat. I suspect, this difference is due to the Hakka influence, which incorporates heartier ingredients apart from fish paste into the dish.
I opted for their signature dish, which comes with a bowl of soup bee hoon. The portion was substantial for me. This could be due to the inclusion of meat fillings. The shop is simply decorated but still manages to feel spacious without being too cramped between tables.

I did not have a chance to try their fried bee hoon and 算盘子 and I have made a mental note to drop by and give it a try the next time.

I got myself set 2 of the Flyboy yong tau foo, with the bee hoon soup. I must say that the sauce for the fried yong tau foo has a nice match. Their yong tau foo tased fresh and full of favour. I shared the Abacus Seeds with a friend, and it's was generous with the ingredients, like the mushroom and dried shrimp, Abacus Seeds is fresh as well.

Do note that their Abacus Seeds is only available on Friday to Sunday only.

Its so nice, that I take away another Abacus Seeds for my wife. B)
